Summary
The Bankruptcy & Restructuring Conflicts Attorney will support the Conflict Department’s day-to-day tasks of conflicts of interest clearance, with a special focus on the firm’s bankruptcy and restructuring practice. The Bankruptcy & Restructuring Conflicts Attorney will interact directly with Bankruptcy Practice Group, as well as assist with special projects related to the firm’s professional responsibility, compliance and conflicts initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Conducts research as necessary on new clients and involved parties.
- Utilizing corporate databases to determine shareholders and substantial owners.
- Performs conflicts searches and processes requests within LegalKey and the New Business Intake system.
- Coordinate & correspond with the Bankruptcy Practice Group regarding large scale search requests to ensure deadlines are met.
- Develop expertise in bankruptcy court disclosure rules and requirements.
- Coordinate with bankruptcy attorneys to help evaluate and process results of conflicts checks.
- Keep team updated regarding the clearance status of new bankruptcy matters.
- Assists with report generation, and all other administrative functions in the department as necessary.
Required Skills
- JD required.
- 1-2 years of experience as a practicing attorney in the area of bankruptcy and restructuring or in a conflicts department required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Conflicts of Interest analysis experience and/or knowledge of the law of conflicts of interest a plus.
- Aptitude for learning new systems, including ability to participate in discussions about design of existing or new system based on departmental and firm needs.
