Conflicts Attorney

Reports to: Director of Conflicts
Responsibilities
- Familiar with the relevant rules of professional responsibility and legal ethics relating to legal conflicts, particularly with regard to lateral hires and the substantial-relationship test
- Evaluate and resolve potential conflicts of interest accurately, both for lateral hires and new matters. Provide guidance to firm attorneys on how to approach and address potential conflicts of interest.
- Draft waiver letters, ethical screening memoranda, and other documents as needed to resolve potential conflicts of interest
- Detail-oriented and ability to work in a fast-paced environment; must be able to prioritize requests and coordinate with other team members to maintain an efficient workflow; must be organized to handle multiple tasks at once
- Execute a conflict search manually, including relevant corporate research, identifying potential conflicts of interest, and creating a summary report of findings
- Review Outside Counsel Guidelines (OCGs) and engagement letters as necessary for provisions related to conflicts of interest and risk management
Experience/Qualifications
- J.D. degree
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a law firm, preferably a large law firm
- Ability to exercise judgment, anticipate firm and departmental needs, and work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal/communication skills
- Superior client service orientation
- Proficiency in Microsoft suite of products (Word, Excel, Outlook) as well as 3E Elite Database and/or other conflicts databases (Aderate, IntApp, LegalKey, etc.)
