Litigation Paralegal

Summary

A Litigation Paralegal provides assistance to lawyers from the filing of a complaint to the resolution, including coordinating all administrative aspects, i.e., documentation, databases and reporting. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Managing all aspects of large scale complex litigations and arbitrations.
  • Maintaining, updating and organizing client files, trial transcripts, fact and research files, court papers and correspondence files in hard copy form as well as electronic form.
  • Producing electronic and hard copy documents.
  • Assisting with responses to discovery requests, including redacting documents in hard copy form as well as on line.
  • Assembling documents for use at depositions.
  • When needed, preparing for and attending court trials and/or arbitrations and handling all duties associated with a trial such as: preparing witness binders, preparing and tracking exhibits, contacting clients and witnesses, scheduling court reporters, etc.
  • Cite-checking, blue-booking and proofreading briefs.
  • Preparing privilege logs.
  • Filing documents electronically with the courts.
  • Must be proficient in Lexis, Westlaw, PACER and Relativity.
  • Trains and mentors entry-level project assistants.
  • Performs other miscellaneous projects and tasks as requested by attorneys and Legal Assistant Manager.
  • Performs other work-related duties, as may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with strong academic credentials.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working at a large law firm.
  • Cite-checking, blue-booking and proofreading briefs.
  • Demonstrated experience with Lexis, Westlaw, PACER & Relativity.
