Summary
The Diversity and Inclusion Manager executes upon strategic initiatives designed to advance the firm’s diversity and inclusion goals and provides thought leadership and support to the Diversity & Inclusion Committee and Resource Groups.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a thought leader, ambassador and advocate on diversity and inclusion initiatives at the Firm, supporting and strengthening the Firm’s inclusive environment.
- Provide strategic thought leadership to, and drive and support the activities and initiatives of, the Firm’s four resource groups: the Women’s Forum, the Attorneys of Color Resource Group, the LGBTQ Resource Group, and the Working Parents Resource Group.
- Represent the Firm at various internal and external functions, including bar association, law student association, and recruiting events, and other similar functions, serving as a Firm spokesperson on diversity and inclusion issues.
- Respond to client requests for diversity information and local and national survey requests related to diversity in the legal profession.
- Liaise with Human Resources and Accounting to enhance processes and procedures for data reporting and analysis and manage the reporting/data analysis and data management processes for Diversity related benchmark statistics. Perform statistical analyses and research and interpret data and prepare reports.
- Manage the Firm’s diversity pipeline initiatives.
- Track all external diversity-related sponsorships and provide reports for internal intranet, website and marketing brochures and responses to external requests.
- Manage the full lifecycle of projects, initiatives, and events, all while ensuring the projects are aligned with department objectives.
- Oversee coordination of diversity meetings (including the Diversity & Inclusion Committee), discussions, sponsorships, summer associate program diversity events, certain professional development programs, and other diversity themed events, internally and externally.
Specifications
Experience
Minimum of four years management or supervisory experience in a major law firm or corporation. Experience in diversity, recruiting, and/or professional development in a major law firm preferred.
Education
4-year college degree required, JD or advanced degree preferred.

Must have solid sense of accountability and willingness to exhibit sound judgment. Ability to communicate well with partners, attorneys, all levels of administrative staff and contacts outside the Firm both verbally and in writing. Strong project management, administrative, organizational, interpersonal and presentation skills required. Ability to handle administrative tasks and prioritize multiple assignments. Flexibility to work beyond the standard work hours and travel as needed. Ability to communicate effectively in meetings, assess a situation, use sound and independent judgment in resolving problems and determine appropriate actions to be taken. Ability to take initiative and follow through on projects. Ability to treat sensitive information confidentially and maintain complete confidentiality as required. Must be detail-oriented; possess a high degree of accuracy, forward-thinking and proactivity. Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in matters of significance to the Firm.
