Financial Accountant

A major Wall Street law firm, has an immediate opening for a Financial Accountant in the Accounting department. This position reports to the Assistant Controller and will require the right candidate to possess the ability to generate and maintain various financial databases. The ideal candidate must have excellent communication and problem-solving skills and a positive, professional demeanor.  You must be pro-active, diligent, extremely well-organized and detailed oriented and have the ability to effectively manage simultaneous projects. 

Responsibilities

• Generate quarterly financial package required by firm’s lender including balance sheet, income statement, change in equity position, cash flow and various covenant calculations
• Provide valuation and current investment activity summary updates to participants regarding the firm’s investment partnership
• Assist Controller and Assistant Controller in the generation of annual operating and capital budgets
• Perform account and trend analysis to ensure reasonable estimates
• Maintain firm’s capital, subordinated note and federal tax deposit charge database
• Assist in the calculation of the firm’s retiring partner’s retirement benefit and guaranteed figures utilizing in-house database
• Assist Assistant Controller in the monthly and annual reconciliation of partner draws containing both draws and charges/credits
• Maintain firm’s various state and local tax databases and assist Assistant Controller in filings
• Assist Retirement Financial Analyst in the generation of firm’s retirement plans income and balance sheets 

Skills and Requirements

• 4 year Accounting or Finance college degree
• Minimum of 4-6 years’ of experience in a law firm or professional services environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word; Aderant
