Business Development Coordinator/Specialist

Summary

Leading, national, law firm is searching for a Business Development Coordinator to work in the firm’s New York City office.  This position provides day-to-day support for the firm’s business development department, working closely with Business Development Managers in the firm’s real estate, corporate and litigation departments; and professionals who oversee the firm’s public relations, communications and CRM functions.  The ideal candidate has at least three years of law firm business development experience, is detail oriented and has excellent oral and written communication skills.  The ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment is essential, as is the ability to multi-task and prioritize.  Flexibility is also valued, as this position is called on to actively support a wide range of initiatives on an as-needed basis.  This position is non-exempt with occasional overtime required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support Business Development Managers (BDMs) with research, writing, editing and production support for pitches, RFP responses and proposals, ensuring on-time delivery of a high-quality work product
  • Update and maintain the firm’s matter database, and marketing and business development collateral
  • Provide BDMs and lawyers with high-quality competitive intelligence research using proprietary data, subscription databases and Internet-based research
  • Write effective content for a wide variety of end products, including research dossiers, pitch materials, marketing collateral, social media and the firm’s website
  • Prepare and submit responses to Chambers, Legal 500 and other legal directories; working closely with BDMs on content development
  • Assist BDMs with planning and executing events in the firm’s amphitheater, as well as off-site events involving clients and third-party organizations; provide on-site support for major firm events
  • Collaborate with BDMs to create and maintain mailing lists, contact lists and client data using the firm’s CRM database, InterAction
  • Regularly collaborate with other firm professionals and perform other related duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Previous law firm or professional service experience in a similar role preferred
  • Knowledge of business development principles, procedures and concepts
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
  • Proficiency in researching companies, industries and individuals, and an ability to distill key concepts into concise executive summaries
  • Basic understanding of InterAction or a similar CRM program
  • Excellent writing skills required with the ability to effectively edit and proofread
  • Detail oriented; excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as part of a collaborative group of professionals
