Summary
A Product Liability & Mass Torts Litigation Project Assistant works closely with lawyers on scientific and medical aspects of product liability litigation. This is a two-year entry-level position supporting lawyers and others within the practice group.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Reviewing and summarizing historic and recent scientific and medical literature related to the mechanism of action of the drug and evaluating its potential to cause (or not cause) injuries.
- Reviewing and summarizing company preclinical (animal studies) and clinical (human) data.
- Providing input on and prioritizing key scientific and medical literature.
- Tracking progress made with expert witnesses (doctors whom we consult with for their opinions regarding the case).
- Researching science and medical related questions for lawyers/client; making the nuances of the explanation understandable to people who may not have STEM backgrounds.
- Drafting client communications and client presentations.
- Attending court proceedings and client meetings.
- Performs other miscellaneous projects and tasks as requested by lawyers and the Paralegal/Project Assistant Manager.
- Performs other work-related duties, as may be assigned.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in science (i.e., Biology, Chemistry, etc.) from an accredited college or university.
