In-House Immigration Paralegal

Summary
The Investment Due Diligence (“IDD”) Team is responsible for developing and overseeing all aspects of the preparation and maintenance of EB-5 Program immigration applications and petitions for submission to attorneys representing immigrant investors. The IDD Team is looking for a Paralegal to assist with the key aspects of its day-to-day operations, including developing and coordinating all USCIS submissions for printing and/or distribution, tracking pending petitions and maintaining performance statistics, managing the IDD Team’s email account, liaising with Federal and State officials to obtain case status updates and requisite project-related documentation, among others. The Paralegal should possess strong writing, critical thinking, research and case management skills, and like working in a small team environment.
Responsibilities
- Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:
- Manage caseload of immigration matters in various stages;
- Assist in preparation of EB-5 Program offerings and petitions and applications, including preparation of forms and packages with supporting evidence for submission to relevant federal administrative agencies;
- Review and organize investor documentation and analyze and summarize case data;
- Assist Firm’s legal counsel with determining potential case issues, planning case strategies, and generating written responses to evidentiary requests from the USCIS;
- Liaise with and draft correspondence to investors, their counsel, and relevant federal administrative agencies;
- Maintain organized, legally compliant investor files, monitor deadlines and progress of individuals cases;
- Perform administrative tasks such as filing documents, answering telephone calls, and maintaining and organizing reference files;
- Conduct legal research regarding regulations and procedures in federal law;
- Contribute to the development of processes to ensure the IDD Team operates efficiently and effectively;
- Work effectively and collaboratively with team members to prioritize and organize work load;
- Ability to be resourceful, adaptable and communicate within all levels of Firm’s firm and its offices abroad as needed for guidance or assistance regarding a matter; and
- Perform other administrative tasks and projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills, ability to multi-task, and prioritize work.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Familiarity with a secure file sharing software such as Dropbox, Egnyte, or Box.
- Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (or successful completion of an accredited Paralegal Studies Certificate Program).
- 3-4 plus years of relevant working experience as a Paralegal.
