E-Filing Clerk

M-F, 11am-7pm
Seeking a candidate with 2-4 years of experience to assist with all aspects of very busy Managing Clerk’s office. Paralegal or trial secretary experience a plus.
Required Skills and Duties
- Thorough working knowledge of litigation documents, including but not limited to: Motions with supporting, opposition and reply papers; case initiating documents-complaints, petitions, motions; emergency documents; appearances; stipulations.
- Strong capabilities with electronic case filing in both N. Y. state courts and federal courts throughout the U.S. (though predominantly in N.Y.).
- Good procedural knowledge related to electronic filing, such as submission of working copies, proposed orders for submission to SDNY, courtesy copies to federal judges.
- Familiarity of inter-borough travel in order to provide assistance to in-house court courier as needed for calendar calls, submissions to judges, etc.
- Time management and task prioritization.
- Ability to deliver a high quality work product, with good follow up and follow through on work assignments.
- Willingness to learn and grow with the Department.
- Professional and courteous demeanor as liaison to courts, vendors and agencies.
- Availability for overtime to participate in rotation schedule for night coverage of e-filing requests.
Required Skills
- Strong working knowledge of CourtAlert, Pacer, New York State Unified Court System (NYSCEF), Courthouse News.
- Strong working knowledge of the CPLR, FRCP, local court rules and procedures.
- Thorough understanding of electronic case filing in Federal, State and Bankruptcy courts.
Education, Certifications and/or Experience
- 2-4 years of experience in Managing Clerk’s office required.
- College Degree required.
- Notary Public license strongly preferred.
Salary will be commensurate with experience.
