Business, Finance & Restructuring Senior Paralegal

Position Summary
The Business, Finance and Restructuring (BFR) Senior Paralegal will work closely with and provide support to the Firm’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy matters. The BFR Senior Paralegal will be responsible for the day to day management of all debtor bankruptcy cases. The qualified candidate knows the bankruptcy court structure, Bankruptcy Codes, Federal and local rules, and ECF system.
Primary Responsibilities and/or Essential Functions
- Manage cases. Oversee workflow. Organize and maintain case files. Create filing lists and code documents for general files. Liaise with Coordinator with to assist with staffing to proactively to handle deadlines.
- Conduct due diligence and research.
- Knowledgeable with expertise in bankruptcy court structure, Bankruptcy Code, Federal and local rules, and ECF system.
- Maintain departmental reference files, including forms, outlines, plans, and disclosure statements. Research and provide forms to attorneys.
- Assist in hearing preparation.
- Monitor and distribute docket updates; prepare case calendar and calculates deadlines.
- Obtain and organize financial data; assists with fee applications.
- Prepare hearing Agendas; track motions and orders; act as liaison with co-counsel and chambers.
- Prepare documents for filing with court in accordance with local rules and judge’s rules.
- Handle Telephone inquiries from creditors, client, and other counsel. Assist attorneys with conflicts review process.
- Demonstrate technical skills consistent with new and existing technology and be proficient at filing procedures and filing jurisdictions.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Candidate must have:
- 5+ years of experience in Chapter 11 proceedings;
- Large law firm experience;
- The ability to manage multiple projects at the same time;
- Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to confidently and graciously interact with Attorneys, Partners, Paralegals and all staff members;
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills and must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment; Excellent attention to detail;
- Strong document management skills and proficiency in Word and Excel; and
- The ability to travel and to work overtime as necessary.
Education/Certifications
- BA/BS from an accredited 4-year college or university with strong academic record.
