Job Description
As a Compensation Analyst you will serve as the central point of contact to provide analysis and guidance on compensation related matters for the staff population under the direction of senior management. You will provide operational support to the Global Human Resources Department in the execution of compensation-related projects. The Analyst will also provide expertise regarding compensation related analysis particularly related to annual headcount/salary budgeting and ongoing headcount/salary variance reporting while accomplishing these and other critical functions:
- Using market data to provide compensation recommendations for individual positions across the firm. Identifying comparable positions and industries to make recommendations for hard-to-find or unique positions.
- Conducting job analyses on both existing and new jobs to determine appropriate salary level according to firm guidelines and market conditions.
- Providing compensation analysis at the person-to-person, job-to-job, office-to-office, and firm-to-market levels to ensure equity and competitiveness.
- Staying abreast of available compensation surveys and compensation-related market research to identify and review those products which the firm should use as analysis and research tools on a regular basis.
- Participating in salary surveys and analyzing market compensation survey results to determine the firm’s market relationship.
- Using market data, government data, and other sources to provide recommendations to senior management regarding compensation-related matters (e.g., salary increase pools, bonus pools, etc.).
- Coordinating the several annual compensation review processes including (but not limited to) the two annual merit increases and the two annual bonus payments.
- Producing standard and ad-hoc reports and analysis regarding compensation and related workforce trends. Analyzing results to identify root issues.
- Working closely with the Global Finance department to coordinate the annual headcount budgeting process; providing variance analysis monthly and as requested on headcount, salary, or other human resources-related financial analysis.
- Working with managers firm-wide to provide additional analysis as requested. Suggesting potential additional analysis based on the problems/questions of firm managers.
- Making recommendations to senior management based on results of analysis.
- Completing various projects regarding finance and compensation issues as needed.
- Promoting effective work practices and works as a team member.
As a Compensation Analyst, you will be expected to apply your organizational and communication skills while displaying a positive, high-energy attitude. The successful Compensation Analyst must have knowledge of accounting principles, general ledger, budgeting and budget variance analysis as well as comprehensive knowledge of compensation and benefits practices. The Analyst will display the ability to perceive and analyze problems and develop alternative strategies to solve them and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with the appropriate discretion. Strong analytical skills are needed as well as the organizational skills needed to manage time well, prioritize effectively, and handle multiple deadlines. A Bachelor’s degree is required. A focus in business, human resources, finance or a related field is preferred. CCP certification is considered a plus. One (1) to three (3) years of related compensation experience is desired.
