Litigation/Transactional Paralegal

Department: Corporate Finance and Real Estate
Under the supervision of attorneys the Litigation paralegal will provide support for all types of litigation and real estate matters. The paralegal will operate as part of a team of attorneys and support staff to provide a high level of service to both internal and external clients.
Responsibilities and Primary Activities
- Organize, index and oversee maintenance of all file documents.
- Initiate and maintain docketing within the Firm’s CompuLaw system and monitor deadlines and calendars.
- Implement case management tools necessary to manage the case
- Knowledge using Relativity/ review and production of electronic discovery.
- Manage litigation support resources assigned to the matter
- Assist with State and Federal Court electronic and paper filings.
- Coordinate scheduling and publication for foreclosure sales.
- Coordinate service of pleadings and motions.
- Draft closing documents, including: deeds, memoranda of leases, lease amendments, promissory notes, allonges, deeds of trust, security agreements, UCC financing statements, assignments, guaranties, escrow agreements, loan agreements, estoppels certificates, resolutions. Draft closing instruction letters and coordinate closings of real estate acquisitions and loans secured by real estate and other collateral.
- Assist with filing and recording of closing documents and prepare closing binders.
- Prepare draft Contracts and Amendments thereto; Resolutions; Organizational Documents for LLC’s and LP’s; Settlement Statements.
- Order and review title insurance commitments, title policies, title endorsements and surveys.
- Order and review due diligence documents and entity formation and registration documentation.
- Review and analyze leases and prepare lease summaries and abstracts.
- Review purchase and sale contracts, ground leases, retail leases, office leases and amendments thereto.
- Prepare critical date lists and manage transaction calendars.

Minimum Requirements
Knowledge, Education, Certification, Licenses
Required
- Four year degree or equivalent
- High level of proficiency with technology including Microsoft Office Suite applications, Adobe Acrobat, Litigation Support Applications, Electronic Filing, Lexis/Nexis, Westlaw (and Dialog) and other internet research tools.
- New York and New Jersey civil litigation experience.
- Electronic Filing using the following Court filing systems: NYSCEF, ECF, PACER, NJ eCourts
Preferred
- Certificate of completion of a paralegal program and paralegal board certification.

Experience
Required
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience in a professional environment preferred which includes progressive responsibility in managing litigation matters.
Preferred
- Law firm experience preferred.
