Summary

The New York Office of a Fortune Magazine 100 Best Companies to work for 18 years running is seeking an experienced patent litigation paralegal for our Intellectual Property practice group. Qualified candidates should have at least 5 years’ experience as a patent litigation paralegal with pre-trial and trial experience, knowledge of court filing procedures, electronic filing, cite checking, and the ability to conduct database searches utilizing various search engines and programs (including concordance and relativity). The paralegal will associate various Firm lawyers in the Intellectual Property group on patent litigations related to pharmaceutical and medical device industries.  Experience with ANDA cases as well as document review is preferred.

We are looking for candidates who are resourceful, exercise good judgment, and possess effective interpersonal skills. Candidates should be able to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints. Attention to detail and excellent oral and written communication skills are required. The position may entail local and domestic travel. Flexibility and the ability to work overtime are essential. A minimum of five years of prior litigation experience and completion of a bachelor’s degree are needed for consideration.

Duties

• Reviewing and analyzing matters for the purpose of preparing status reports to attorneys and clients
• Establishing, organizing, and maintaining pleadings, attorney trial notebooks, expert witness notebooks, document indexes and lists
• Participating in interviews of parties, witnesses, and experts and providing assistance with interview memos, written statements, and/or affidavits
• Reviewing and outlining depositions, indexes and summarizing documents
• Providing assistance in the trial of cases including the scheduling of witnesses and tracking exhibits
• Performing assigned legal research tasks using all available resources, including libraries and computer data systems
• Proofreading and marking legal documents
• Interacting with clients and maintaining files

Requirements

• Four year college degree required; paralegal certificate recommended
• 5+ years of mid-large firm IP Litigation experience
