Job Description
The Pricing Manager will be a member of the Finance Department, and will report to the Strategic Pricing Director. The incumbent will be primarily responsible for analyzing data to support the development of pricing proposals and matter budgets, as well as monitoring performance and providing reports to stakeholders. The Pricing Manager will work with the Strategic Pricing Director to enhance existing tools and develop the infrastructure to support the pricing function. This is a new role that will be part of a growing function.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with lawyers to develop pricing proposals for existing clients and prospective clients;
- Assist in developing and implementing economic models to project the financial impact of proposed pricing arrangements and staffing models;
- Update and maintain fee arrangements database; Monitor performance of special fee arrangements and provide reports to responsible attorneys;

- Assist with the development, preparation and production of complex reporting required by internal and external clients for individual matters or portfolios of client work;
- Assist matter teams with the proactive identification of issues with existing pricing arrangements and propose methods to rectify those issues;
- Assist with the creation of budgets and monitor performance against the budget through the matter’s duration;
- Proactively track and manage the matter budget with respect to time billed, vendor expenses, write-downs, write-offs, etc.;
- Create and distribute regular budget reports to the attorney team;
- Assist with the development of budget and pricing templates for different types of legal matters; and
- All other tasks and projects, as assigned.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree a plus;
- Three to five years’ experience in a law firm or professional services firm, preferably in areas related to pricing and/or practice management; other similar work experience will be considered;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills;
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint;
- Strong analytical skills;
- Experience with the database tools and financial information reporting tools a plus;
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Outstanding client service skills and responsiveness;
- Ability to interact with all levels of the organization, employing a high degree of tact, diplomacy and professionalism;
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality;
- Ability to prioritize, juggle multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment;
- Must exhibit a high sense of urgency;
- Must be team-oriented; and
- Must have a strong work ethic and have the ability to work nights and weekends when needed.
