Pro Bono Assistant

Overview

Provide overall administrative support for the Pro Bono Practice of large law firm by assisting Pro Bono Coordinator, Pro Bono Attorney and Pro Bono Director on an ongoing basis with specified tasks and projects

Responsibilities

  • Perform all administrative tasks necessary to open cases and close pro bono cases
  • Perform all administrative tasks necessary to ensure smooth operation of pro bono clinics
  • Plan and organize internal and external meetings and events, including trainings
  • Update and track all information related to the Firm’s legal service partners
  • Perform routine reports related to the Pro Bono program using the Firm’s Pro Bono Forum and maintaining data in updates to spreadsheets
    • Handle requests to process charitable donations related to the Pro Bono Program
    • Work with the Pro Bono Coordinator to respond to annual pro bono surveys and in-kind contribution requests from nonprofit clients and legal service partners
  • Track quarterly pro bono hours, awards, victories and highlights
  • Maintain internal records pertaining to associate departures, leaves, and transfers and facilitate procedures to transition pro bono matters upon departure
  • Work with the Pro Bono Coordinator to maintain and update Pro Bono Wiki and Pro Bono Key Documents Library with training opportunities, new initiatives and internal project models

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 2+ years of professional experience in a fast-paced environment. Law firm experience strongly preferred
  • Must be comfortable working with lawyers at all seniority levels
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel required
  • Good judgment; excellent organization skills and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize, handle multiple projects, and work under pressure in a deadline driven environment
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to take responsibility for projects to their conclusion and proactively identify team needs
  • Excellent interpersonal and client service skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexibility to work longer hours during busier periods and on an as-needed basis
