Asset Management Business Analyst

Reports to: Senior Business Manager-Asset Management
Summary
Assist in researching, tracking and analyzing on-going changes in regulations and laws relevant to the Asset Management Practice Group and support the efficient communication of this information to the practice group lawyers. In addition, work with attorneys on drafting publications and support the practice’s knowledge management initiatives. The Business Analyst may be assigned other projects by lawyers in the practice group, as needed. Position reports to the Practice Group Leader or designated supervising lawyer, with administrative tasks reporting to the Senior Business Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Research, track and analyze new regulations and laws relevant to the Asset Management Practice Group.
- Research, track and analyze changes in existing regulations and laws relevant to the Asset Management Practice Group.
- Develop and draft internal and external updates/publications, including initial drafting of client alerts.
- Support the knowledge management initiatives in the Asset Management Practice Group.
- Research and distribute relevant articles, publications and business-related updates to members of the group, as appropriate.
- Perform research on various topics, as requested.
- Update administrative lists and practice group training materials.
- Assist in organizing relevant seminars for the group.
- Perform such other responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.
- Interface with and provide information to other practice groups, as instructed.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and research skills are essential.
- Lexis/Nexis and/or Westlaw skills are a plus.
- Proactive approach and implementer of processes and procedures.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, demanding environment and take direction from lawyers and staff at various levels.
- Strong knowledge of MS Office applications (Word and Excel), Internet/intranet applications and email systems.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or comparable work experience required.
- Up to 2 years of work-related experience, including financial and regulatory research.
- Experience in the financial institutions/asset management/private and registered funds space preferred.
