Corporate Client Development Specialist

Summary

We are looking for a results-oriented business development specialist based in our New York office who will  support the Firm’s corporate, tax, benefits, and financial services practice groups and others as needed.  Along with the Corporate Lead and broader Marketing and Business Development team, the Specialist will support client development efforts, such as proposal production, event and e-alert dissemination and tracking, and reporting for the corporate practice groups.

Duties & Responsibilities

Client Development

  • Work with Corporate Lead and marketing managers to support the development and execution of marketing and client development plans, industry group plans, and firmwide initiatives to advance practice group goals.
  • Prepare specific client pitch materials, including responses to RFPs, and assist with preparatory sessions with attorneys prior to client meetings; and track opportunities and win/loss record.
  • Using best practices and standards manage event preparation and execution; recommend appropriate follow-up activities to maximize ROI.
  • Identify, assess, and coordinate sponsorship and speaking opportunities at conferences and seminars, and ensure effective participation.
  • Develop and maintain segmented client and prospect mailing lists.
  • Support logistical and other activities related to lateral integration.

Marketing

  • Draft, review, and proofread internal and external communications.
  • Draft submissions for relevant practices for directory listings and other awards, including Chambers and Legal 500.
  • Assist with the editing, layout, and production of firm and practice group marketing materials, including electronic client alerts and memoranda, website content, newsletters, brochures, and other external communication pieces.
  • Maintain and develop client distribution lists for client communications.
  • Maintain and update corporate experience database (M&A, private equity, capital markets, finance, venture capital, etc.).
  • Prepare and submit corporate transactions for quarterly league table rankings.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned and required.
  • Timely and regular attendance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing/communications or related field.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in professional services marketing.
  • Demonstrated background of accomplishment in marketing.
  • Previous law firm experience is highly desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Effective time-management and organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask, manage multiple projects, and work well under tight deadlines and other pressures while maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • Demonstrated leadership and proactivity/initiative.
  • Creativity, and value-added orientation.
  • Understanding of corporate transactions a plus.
  • Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft applications (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook). InterAction and Adobe skills a plus.
