Job Description
The Legal Support Assistant will have the opportunity to support the practice of a senior partner through direct exposure to matters, case teams, and clients. Under the general direction of the senior partner, the Legal Support Assistant will work day to day on a full range of activities required to support the practice including, but not limited to: scheduling and coordinating internal and client meetings, travel arrangements, expense report and billing management. Availability to work overtime on mornings, evenings and weekends on an unscheduled basis is required.
Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with the Administrative Assistant on the day-to-day operations of the Partner’s practice by taking initiative and exercising sound judgment and as needed:
- Schedule meetings and maintain calendar appointments
- Schedules complex work related and personal business
- Screens Partner’s telephone calls, mail and visitors, maintaining electronic notes to brief Partner on requests, inquires, and status of communications
- Prepares original letters, memos and other correspondence
- Establishes and maintains Partner’s files and records
- Ability to provide support to other attorneys when necessary
- Collaborates with firm Billing Department and clients on the management of billing matters
- Responsible for screening correspondence and maintaining confidential files
Required Skills
- Four-year college degree
- Minimum 3.3 cumulative GPA upon graduation
- Interest in the legal field as demonstrated through undergraduate coursework, extracurricular activities, or jobs and internships
- Experience maintaining calendar including orchestrating on-site meetings and coordinating with internal groups and clients
- Detail-oriented mindset, flexible and adaptable
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, Power Point)
