Professional Development & Training Manager-Litigation

Job Description

The Litigation Manager will report to the firm’s Professional Development & Operations Director. The Manager will primarily focus on creating, updating, maintaining and assisting in the execution of interactive professional development & training programs, workshops and resources designed to engage and develop the firm’s junior and midlevel Litigation attorneys as well as Staff Attorneys.  In addition, the Manager will assist with on-boarding lateral Litigation associates and counsel.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Professional Development & Operations Director, the Manager will:

  • Create, update, maintain and assist in the execution of in-house interactive training programs and workshops for junior and midlevel Litigation attorneys.
  • Maintain current, and develop new, training programs for the Litigation Staff Attorneys.
  • Assist with on-boarding lateral Litigation associates.
  • Collaborate with IT, graphic design and audio/visual professionals to deliver programming in an engaging, convenient, efficient and secure manner, including to onsite and remote employees.
  • Draft and deliver internal communications and hold internal meetings with attorneys and staff members of all levels of seniorities to prepare them to present interactive training programs and communicate and generate buy-in for program objectives.
  • Collaborate with event planning and coordination professionals to ensure flawless program execution.
  • Assist in maintaining internal training database to optimize user experience and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Initiate and lead or assist in technology adoption initiatives in support of other duties. 

Required Skills

  • J.D. degree, with 3-6 years of Litigation legal practice experience, preferably in a large law firm, or 3-6 years of combined experience in Litigation legal practice and legal professional development or legal publishing/resource creation roles.
  • Familiar with and conversant in documentation and processes of Litigation law practice.
  • Confident in own ability to learn and become conversant in unfamiliar areas of legal practice, and interested in doing so.
  • Interest in, and comfort with, legal industry technology.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with attorneys and staff throughout the firm on program development and delivery.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, both written and oral, including strong attention to detail in all written work.
  • Ability to take the initiative and work independently, as well as collaborate with others and work well in a team.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced environment with a client service orientation.
