Position Summary
Premier, global, law firm is seeking a legal/business information specialist. This position is responsible for providing legal, corporate and general reference information to attorneys and staff in all practice areas of the Firm.
Responsibilities
- Supports research initiatives and requests for Firm attorneys and staff across the globe.
- Performs reference on legal, corporate and other topics using print and online resources.
- Coordinate inter-library loan requests.
- Assists with maintenance and updating of practice area websites.
- Build research skills using print and online sources, incorporating new technologies, and highly adaptable to the use of new information resources.
- Manages Firm resources responsibly, including a strong commitment to copyright compliance, and budget policies.
- Ensures continuity of Research and Information Services operations.
- Tracks & bills time.
- Handle administrative and other projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Library Science, or 3 years of relevant reference/research experience.
- Minimum one year of experience conducting reference/research support in a legal setting, preferably in a law firm environment.
Requirements
- Knowledge of legal, corporate and securities information sources.
- Good working Knowledge of commercial/research databases including Lexis Advance, WestlawNext, PACER, SecuritiesMosaic, HeinOnline, Bloomberg BNA and Capital IQ.
- Technology skills, e.g. Microsoft Office, etc., with the ability to learn new applications.
- Demonstrates close attention to detail. Must be detail-oriented.
- Ability to multitask and meet competing deadlines in a demanding environment.
- Ability to handle sensitive matters, maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Ability to work well independently as well as within a team.
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
- Well-developed and professional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and additional hours needed to meet business needs.
