Position Summary
Premier, global, law firm is seeking a legal/business information specialist.  This position is responsible for providing legal, corporate and general reference information to attorneys and staff in all practice areas of the Firm.

Responsibilities

  • Supports research initiatives and requests for Firm attorneys and staff across the globe.
  • Performs reference on legal, corporate and other topics using print and online resources.
  • Coordinate inter-library loan requests.
  • Assists with maintenance and updating of practice area websites.
  • Build research skills using print and online sources, incorporating new technologies, and highly adaptable to the use of new information resources.
  • Manages Firm resources responsibly, including a strong commitment to copyright compliance, and budget policies.
  • Ensures continuity of Research and Information Services operations.
  • Tracks & bills time.
  • Handle administrative and other projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Library Science, or 3 years of relevant reference/research experience.
  • Minimum one year of experience conducting reference/research support in a legal setting, preferably in a law firm environment.

Requirements 

  • Knowledge of legal, corporate and securities information sources.
  • Good working Knowledge of commercial/research databases including Lexis Advance, WestlawNext, PACER, SecuritiesMosaic, HeinOnline, Bloomberg BNA and Capital IQ.
  • Technology skills, e.g. Microsoft Office, etc., with the ability to learn new applications.
  • Demonstrates close attention to detail. Must be detail-oriented.
  • Ability to multitask and meet competing deadlines in a demanding environment.
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters, maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as within a team.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Well-developed and professional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and additional hours needed to meet business needs.
