Job Description
Provide substantive assistance to Litigation Department for major trials, arbitrations and hearings.
Primary Responsibilities and/or Essentials
- Identify, develop and implement best practices with respect to all aspects of trial and hearing preparation, trial and hearing activity and post-trial and hearing functions. Utilize effective computerized technology. Provide information and guidance to attorney and paraprofessionals with respect to best practices in trials and hearings.
- Coordinate with practice group coordinators and lead paralegals in overseeing paralegal teams and assessing resources and skill levels needed for trial and hearing preparation.
- Manage, coordinate and conduct processes of reviewing, analyzing and producing documents relating to trials and hearings.
- Coordinate with Litigation Support Services, Litigation Graphics Services and paraprofessional staff with respect to all aspects of trial and hearing preparation, trial and hearing activity and post-trial and hearing functions.
- Develop and coordinate vendor resources for litigation practice areas, other than those managed by LSS. Identify resources with clearly delineated costs, availability, turnaround time, quality control and locations.
- Coordinate trial site logistics including court, work sites, vendor and expense management.
- Oversee and manage best practices for post-trial logistics for maintenance and protection of documents and work product in the event of an appeal.
- Present to attorney and paraprofessional groups any developments in litigation practice that impact on the any phase of litigation including discovery, pre-trial, trial and post-trial practices.
- Propose, develop and provide training and development for paralegals. Identify training resources within the Firm and those available from other sources.
- Participate in Litigation Coordinator meetings.
- Any other duties as required by management.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- 5+ years of experience in a Litigation practice.
- Must have trial and hearing experience with at a peer firm.
- Candidate must be self-confident, energetic, efficient, motivated and able to handle multiple projects at the same time.
- Candidate must possess outstanding written and oral communication skills and must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to confidentially and graciously interact with Attorneys, Partners, Paralegals and all staff members.
- Strong clerical and typing skills as well as proficiency in Word, Excel and Power Point.
- The position also requires the ability to travel and to work overtime as necessary.
Education/Certifications
- BA/BS with strong academic record.
