Public Relations Manager

Reports to: Senior PR Manager
The Public Relations Manager leads PR strategy, media relations duties and the Public Relations team.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Manage team and resources responsible for Public Relations; Manage team performance and set goals, ensure the team’s continuous professional development;
- Position and write press releases, pitches, memos, media preparation documents and partner emails to publicly promote the Firm;
- Cultivate media opportunities and relationships;
- Deliver the Firm’s thought leadership initiatives, including bylined articles, surveys and reports and the Firm’s response to awards submission, surveys and directories;
- Oversee tracking, monitoring and reporting of Firm, partner and Firm personnel references in the media;
- Prepare attorneys for all media interviews and interfacing with attorneys to identify industry trends, deal/case information and client work;
- Work beyond scheduled hours as necessary and travel as needed; and
- Handle additional Public Relations and Media projects as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, with an emphasis in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or Marketing (required);
- At least 7 years of public relations and/or media relations experience including current press relationships;
- At least 7 years of professional services or law firm experience (preferred);
- At least 3 years of training/supervisory experience (preferred); and
- At least 1 years of experience in a strategic role;
- Expert proficiency in English language, including punctuation, spelling, grammar and writing skills;
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite;
- Advanced proficiency in online research and internet resources (Lexis-Nexis, MediaMap);
- Advanced proficiency in document and content management software (DocsOpen);
- Advanced to Expert knowledge of public relations/media principles, procedures and concepts;
- Advanced to Expert knowledge of legal and professional services marketing, including developments, trends, analysis, technologies and literature;
- Advanced to Expert knowledge of the relevant media outlets, including national business press workings; and
- Advanced knowledge of legal concepts.
