Overview

A Paralegal in the Real Estate practice group provides assistance to lawyers by researching and maintaining recording requirements, and by preparing documents.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews Title and Survey
  • Prepares and files UCC financing statements; orders UCC and other search reports
  • Reviews Lease Agreements and prepares basic abstracts
  • Prepares signature page packets for execution by clients and third parties using Adobe Acrobat
  • Prepares closing indices and CD-roms of closing documents
  • Composes cover letters, prepares federal express and hand delivery labels; assembles packages of original documents for distribution to third parties
  • Attends in-person closings, reviews & organizes execution of documents, maintains files and follows up as necessary regarding outstanding documentation
  • Maintains and organizes files for dozens of open matters
  • Notarizes documents
  • Communicates with clients, lawyers and third parties on a professional level
  • Orders documents from government agencies, private document retrieval companies and internal sources
  • Assembles and updates working group lists, timetables and checklists
  • Performs other work related duties, as assigned or as judgment or necessity dictates

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
Required

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S. or B.A.) with strong academic credentials
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working in commercial real estate in a corporate legal environment

Preferred

  • Experience at large law firm
  • Ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously under tight deadlines
