Position Summary
- The Docket Coordinator dockets and schedules relevant information for the firm calendar and attorney tickler system.
Essential Functions
- Maintains and distributes daily ticklers and the firm-wide calendar.
- Alerts attorneys of incoming court papers, notices and impending deadlines.
- Advises attorneys of newly instituted procedures.
- Obtains docket sheets and documents by utilizing P.A.C.E.R., and NYSCEF.
- Orders documents from external service providers for out-of-state courts.
- Monitors cases in Federal and State courts, and governmental and administrative agencies.
- Researches cases by various methods including P.A.C.E.R., Westlaw, Internet, newspapers and magazines.
- Conducts E-filings in State and Federal courts.
- Conducts document review before filing.
- Confirms court dates and opens new cases.
Other Responsibilities
- Performs other work related duties as assigned for ex: calendar calls, services and hand deliveries on as needed basis.
Education
- Associate’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience and Skills Required
- At least 3 years of experience
- Extensive working knowledge of CompuLaw (or similar docketing system), CM/ECF and NYSECF.
- Extensive knowledge of docketing, calendaring and calculation of time.
- Strong working knowledge of the CPLR, FRCP, local court rules and procedures.
- Strong working knowledge of CourtAlert, Courtlink and the NYS Unified court system
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of firm personnel.
- The duties of the position may require extended and irregular hours to perform the essential duties of the position.
