Professional Development Coordinator

Job Description

Under the direction of the Chief Professional Development Officer, the Coordinator will be responsible for logistical support to the Department Directors and firm’s lawyers. The Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring that the firm’s training programs, projects and initiatives are conducted in a professional manner and that the service delivered is of the highest quality.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate logistics for firm-wide training programs, including arranging and organizing meetings, invitations, follow-up, room reservations & preparation, etc.
  • Analyze attorney training needs.
  • Attend, monitor and critique live training programs.
  • Create and manage departmental files, including in-house departmental calendar in real time, tracking charts, excel spread sheets.
  • Coordinate efforts with various other Firm departments.
  • Maintain department invitation and training databases.
  • Maintain department’s library of programs.
  • Organize and monitor client CLE tracking system.
  • Maintain CLE qualification forms, including creating sign-in sheets and evaluation forms and handle materials preparation for all programs.
  • Manage post-program wrap up including finalizing timed agendas, evaluation summaries, and training page entries after each program.
  • Handle departmental administrative tasks, including answering phones, word processing, “one-off” projects and other special assignments (for example, assisting in the roll-out of new technological solutions), as needed.
  • Serve as general back-up support to Coordinators, Manager, Directors and Chief for all programs and events.

Required Skills

  • BA degree, plus 2+ years of work experience in a similar role, preferably in a professional services firm;
  • Complete proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Extremely strong organizational and planning skills, written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills;
  • Highly motivated self-starter, strong work ethic, enthusiastic “can do” attitude and eagerness to take ownership of the job responsibilities;
  • Extraordinary attention to detail, accuracy, precision and follow-up; and
  • Basic understanding of multimedia systems a plus.
