Overview

The Litigation Paralegal at this premier firm works in a team environment assisting litigation attorneys in all phases of the litigation lifecycle, ranging from pre-complaint investigation through trial and appeal. The ideal candidate will know how to meet the Firm’s standards of excellence in supporting our attorney teams and will play an active role in helping the Firm to provide legal services of the highest caliber to our clients. This specific position has the potential to develop into a leadership role.

Responsibilities

Coordinating workflow for one specific team, serving in the role of team leader; reviewing and analyzing documents for production, categorizing documents by subject, preparing chronologies and reviewing transcripts during the discovery phase; working closely with attorney teams and Technical Litigation Support in managing and tracking complex document productions; conducting various database searches and factual research to assist teams in the review and management of case-critical information throughout the life of a case; organizing and maintaining pleadings and correspondence files relevant to assigned cases using both traditional and automated procedures; assisting with the process of e-filing with various courts and governmental agencies and coordinating team-specific calendars for critical dates; handling document organization and production, including photocopying, and indexing documents, auditing documents and maintaining production logs; preparing for and attending depositions; preparing for and attending trial; assisting with the preparation of motions; assisting with the training of newly hired Legal Assistants; reviewing the work of entry-level Legal Assistants; and performing other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with high academic standing; 2-3 years of experience as a Litigation Legal Assistant or Paralegal; excellent organizational and communication skills; advanced knowledge of technology and database applications; solid blue-booking and cite checking experience; the ability to work well under pressure and coordinate several activities simultaneously; the ability to follow instructions, as well as delegate tasks to others; and the ability to work overtime evenings, weekends and holidays, as well as the ability to travel for extended periods of time, sometimes on short notice, as necessary.
