Sr. Corporate Restructuring Legal Assistant
Job Summary
Assists Corporate Restructuring practice area attorneys and case teams in all phases and aspects of Corporate Restructuring work.
Functions
- Assists with hearing preparation.
- Assists with preparation of Fee Applications.
- Assists with preparation of mailings.
- Assists with preparation for Creditors’ Committee Meetings.
- Assists with drafting of Stay Letters.
- Updates calendar and docket.
- Assists with practice area administration.
- Organizes and manages electronic and paper files.
- Ensures that all Corporate Restructuring files are maintained within Department-approved protocols and case management systems.
- Maintains integrity of client files.
- Assists with the preparation and drafting of pleadings and other court papers.
- Cite-checks and Shepardizes briefs and memoranda of law.
- Prepares hard copy and electronic documents to be filed with the court.
- Conducts non-legal research using various research tools, including the Internet, Westlaw, LexisNexis, PACER and court-related websites for case law, statutes, articles, books, etc.
- Assists other legal assistants and attorneys across practice areas.
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective work relationships with others.
- Manages Firm resources responsibly.
- Complies with and understands Firm operation, policies and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of Firm operation, policies and procedures
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with MS Word and Excel
- Knowledge of relevant Firm computer software programs (e.g., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to learn new software and operating systems
- Ability to navigate various electronic databases and document repositories
- Strong research skills and proficiency in using various research tools, including the Internet, Westlaw, LexisNexis PACER
- Excellent analytical and trouble shooting skills
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work well independently as well as effectively within a team
- Ability to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality
- Ability to organize and prioritize work
- Ability to work well in a demanding and fast-paced environment
- Ability to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Demonstrates close attention to detail

Experience/Education
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum of six years of Litigation or Corporate Restructuring legal assistant experience
