Paralegal – Patent Litigation

Overview

An IP-Litigation Paralegal provides professional support to lawyers, with a particular focus to intellectual property and patent, to assist in delivering a quality service to clients in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with research, preparation and analysis of documents.
  • Assists with licensing (tracking and reporting), on-line patent and trademark searching, maintenance and reporting of patent metrics.
  • Maintaining, updating and organizing client files, trial transcripts, fact and research files, court papers and correspondence files in hard copy form as well as electronic form.
  • Producing electronic and hard copy documents.
  • Assisting with responses to discovery requests, including redacting documents in hard copy form as well as on line.
  • Assembling documents for use at depositions.
  • When needed, preparing for and attending court trials and/or arbitrations and handling all duties associated with a trial such as: preparing witness binders, preparing and tracking exhibits, contacting clients and witnesses, scheduling court reporters, etc.
  • Cite-checking, blue-booking and proofreading briefs.
  • Preparing privilege logs.
  • Filing documents electronically with the courts.
  • Must be proficient in Concordance and Relativity.
  • Performs other miscellaneous projects and tasks as requested by attorneys and Legal Assistant Manager.
  • Performs other work-related duties, as may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with strong academic credentials
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working at a large law firm
  • Cite-checking, blue-booking and proofreading briefs.
  • Demonstrated experience with Lexis, Westlaw, PACER & Relativity
