Financial Systems Operations Engineer
Job Description
Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Financial Systems Operations, selected candidate will work directly with Finance managers, supervisors and end-users to support and further automate the financial systems within the firm. This individual will work with the IS department staff to provide support, maintenance and upgrades to all Financial Systems servers and applications. Selected candidate will administer Microsoft SQL Servers, Web-Servers, and all hardware utilized by Financial Systems applications. The focus of this position is ongoing integration, support, testing, maintenance and upgrades of Elite 3e ERP and all Financial Systems applications.
Primary Responsibilities and/or Essential Functions
- Provide daily customer support for all the existing Finance applications within the firm; work with vendors and customers towards resolution of financial application problems and issues; log, track and close incident tickets.
- Monitor, update and maintain financial application servers, databases and file shares (Database Servers, Middle-tier Web servers, etc.).
- Responsible for back-up and restore procedures of all Financial Systems applications and databases.
- Monitor and maintain all daily/weekly/monthly Financial Systems server and application scheduled rules, tasks and processes; address and correct errors in a timely fashion.
- Responsible for Disaster Recovery of critical Financial Systems applications; maintain and update Financial Systems servers and applications in the Dublin Disaster Recovery (DR) environment as well as all related documentation.
- Responsible for maintaining user access to Financial Systems applications and servers.
- Maintain and update Financial Systems server/application, integration tasks development inventory and login credential documents as required.
- Responsible for creation and maintenance of all related technical and operational documentation and checklists.
- Responsible for maintenance and updates to the Elite 3e ERP application and other Financial Systems applications.
- Plan and implement financial system software upgrades; analyze and work with users, Financial Systems analysts and developers to determine impact of vendor software upgrades; assist with regression testing of Financial Systems application processes and integrations.
- Develop and maintain IntApp Integration Builder and other platform integration tasks as required.
- Responsible for successful completion of Elite 3e month-end accounting close and all relevant communication.
- Project Management – work on various projects as assigned by management. Create, track and update all project tasks and continually inform the department and management of the project’s status.
- Provide after business hours on call coverage for, but not limited to, rotating weekend support, month end accounting close (2nd working day of calendar month), monthly server/software maintenance (3rd Saturday of calendar month), and as otherwise required.
- Any other responsibilities as required by management.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Solid SQL/Transact-SQL skills.
- Expert Level of SQL Server administration.
- Expert Level of Web-Server administration.
- Experience with XML, XSLT, Application Programming Interface (API).
- Solid understanding of networking concepts and server operating systems, IntApp Integration Builder, or other ETL tools.
- Expert in Disaster Recovery and business continuity processes and procedures.
- Expert in database and application back-up and restore processes and procedures.
- Ability to learn general functional and technical aspects of the firm’s financial applications.
- Experience with Thomson Elite 3e ERP application, SQL table structure/relationshipsand customization tools.
- Experience with DTE Axiom/Intapp Time entry applications.
- Previous experience in IS project management, preferably finance related projects.
- Ability to manage and act as the champion for system change and migrations.
- Self-motivated person with excellent time management skills.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to communicate results.
- In-depth technical skills and familiarity with financial systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with staff of varying technical expertise.
- Demonstrated experience effectively communicating business and technical concepts, requirements and problems/issues to end-users, internal support departments such as other firm IT departments, outside vendors, and management.
- Act as a Project Manager for Finance application projects whenever required.
Education/Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in computer related training or related experience; IT certifications a plus.
