Tax Accountant
Job Description
To be an integral part of the tax department, assisting in the preparation of partnership tax returns and other duties assigned by the Tax Director.
Responsibilities and/or Essential Functions
- Assist in the preparation of estimated tax payments and other tax return related projects.
- Assist with the timely filing of all Commercial Rent Tax and property tax returns.
- Assist with the preparation of federal, state and city income tax returns, including the Firm’s partnership return and supporting schedules.
- Preparation and coordination of quarterly federal excise tax returns and related estimated payments.
- Assist with the preparation of foundation and investment company workpapers and tax returns, including interaction with outside provider for the timely completion of tax returns.
- Assist tax personnel with special projects and reconciliation of tax accounts.
- Coordinate and track administrative data for tax return, including partner elections.
- Any other responsibilities assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- 1+ years of public accounting firm experience; “Big 4” experience a plus, but not required.
- Strong understanding of partnership accounting; partnership tax return compliance experience is desired.
- Strong MS Excel and Word skills including VLookup, pivot tables, mail merge, etc…
- Possess good analytical skills, detail oriented, willing to work flexible hours to meet deadlines (e.g. overtime as required), and well organized.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills a plus.
- Able to work independently and in a team environment as well as interact with multiple departments within the firm.
Education/Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
