Business Development Research Specialist
Summary
The Business Development Research Specialist is responsible for supporting various business development efforts and initiatives across the Firm. This includes working closely with the Manager of Business Development and Research in the production of comprehensive research and background materials to support client development, tailored pitches and submissions, and other business development activities. The successful candidate is expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the Firm’s clients, attorneys, advisors and staff; contribute to an atmosphere of collaboration and teamwork; and strives to excel.
Relationships
The Business Development Research Specialist will interact and communicate with the entire Marketing and Business Development Department, attorneys, and administrative staff. The Specialist will report into the Manager of Business Development and Research and will work closely with the Business Development team for guidance and direction.
Responsibilities
Primary
- Supports the Manager of Business Development and Research in business development market intelligence analysis
- In conjunction with the Manager of Business Development and Research, produces comprehensive research and background materials utilizing internal and external data sources
- Proactively monitors a variety of sources to identify industry trends and potential prospects as it relates to business development efforts across practices and offices.
- In conjunction with various internal marketing and business development teams, maintains the internal databases related to the firm’s business intelligence function.
- Manages special projects as needed.
Secondary
- Works with the Senior Manager of Business Development and Senior Coordinator of Central Resources in production and maintenance of business development and pitch-related content.
- Assists in the maintenance of the Firm’s repository of experience and expertise assets, both in our proposal generation system (“Content Pilot”) and in our Marketing Worksite Library.
- Assists in the production of tailored content for pitches and RFPs, directory submissions, and other collateral, including practice descriptions and tailored attorney bios, flyers, industry specific experience, case studies, client mailings, newsletters, and other client-visible content.
Specifications
Education
4 year College degree required. MLS or JD preferred.
Experience
3+ years of experience in legal, business or marketing research within a medium to large professional services environment.

Attendance
All positions require punctuality and regular attendance.
Technology Skills
Must be highly skilled in MS Suite – Excel and PowerPoint. Proficiency with various research databases including, but not limited to, CapitalIQ, Lexis, Westlaw, Bloomberg, Thomson One Banker, Westlaw MonitorSuite. Experience with Content Piolit, InterAction and other market intelligence tools a plus.
