Billing Specialist
A successful mid-sized law firm located in midtown Manhattan, is looking to fill a key position responsible for all aspects of Billing within the Accounting Department. This is a skilled professional position for someone with a proven track record of leading a law firm billing function. The position reports to the Chief Finance Officer and is responsible for supervising an assistant dedicated to the billing function. The position is an integral part of the Accounting and provides all aspects of billing support to 65 attorneys and 10 paralegals, managing the full billing cycle and monthly close of the billing system, as well as the complete process of compiling timekeeping records and generating regular bills to clients as required. This is a hands-on role requiring successful interaction with all employees and clients.
Qualified candidates will have the following:
- Solid skills and resourcefulness in managing billing system software and user issues, evaluating options to implement practical solutions and anticipating future
- Ability to effectively communicate and provide direction on billing requirements and solutions to the Accounting Department and end-users to ensure the delivery of superior service and support to all
- Excellent written and verbal skills required to effectively present and communicate information to all levels of
- Excellent analytical skills and business judgment, as well as sound problem solving skills necessary to compile, analyze and interpret client billing
- High level services skills, with a focus on delivering outstanding user support and continuous process
- Unquestionable capacity to maintain full confidentiality on sensitive issues and ensure full confidentiality of Accounting
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related
- Minimum of seven (7) years of related law firm billing
- Ability to build relationships of trust, respect and productive interactions with all levels of attorneys and
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and work extended hours as necessary to fulfill time sensitive
Technical skills and experience with the following are desired:
- Familiarity in managing accounting systems and timekeeping/billing software
- Experience in working through a timekeeping/billing software system
- Familiarity with Rainmaker (Pyramid) timekeeping/billing systems a plus, but not
- Advanced skills in Excel in both utilizing and creating spreadsheets, along with solid skills in Word and
- Firm is moving to Aderant CMS or Elite so experience in either is preferred.
