General Description: (Summary Statement)
This position is responsible for assisting the New Business/Conflicts Department and staff with the processing, researching and reporting of information collected in consideration and review of potential new matters submitted by attorneys and staff in all offices.
Essential Functions
- Proficient in the understanding and utilization of the conflicts database; including maintenance and updating of the database.
- Research corporate affiliations of clients and parties using Dun & Bradstreet as well as cross referencing information using the internet and other research means.
- Performs routine conflicts of interest searches by identifying and validating party information; determining appropriate search criteria; running searches and analyzing results for data to be included or excluded.
- Assist and respond to attorney and staff requests.
- Daily firm wide distribution of all New Business/New Matter Requests.
- Utilizing Crystal Reports, distribute daily summary of new matters opened for each office; weekly distribution of partner percentage allocations.
- Assist in maintaining matters in Elite by updating attorney changes/departures, client/matter name changes, origination updates and the reopening or closing of matters as requested.

Skills (Equipment/Technical/Managerial Required) |
- Strong understanding of conflicts-of-interest, business intake procedures in a law firm environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, LegalKey, Elite, Crystal Reports, Dun & Bradstreet Family Tree Portal, Hoover’s and other research software.
- Strict attention to detail and excellent analytical and organization skills are a must.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be responsible for completing tasks and following through with the resolution of issues; including the ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast paced environment.
Education and Training Required
Bachelor’s degree and/or experience in conflicts or in research as well as being familiar in working in an office environment.
