The Opportunity
- Drive revenue to a billion dollar global law firm through developing strategies and tactical plans to raise the profile of the firm in the Bay Area and developing client relationships. Identify and execute on opportunities for expanding and deepening area client base, cross‑selling, and visibility, including planning and executing client/prospect events. - Recommend and develop concise and actionable San Francisco Bay Area business development and marketing plans, with underlying budget recommendations, collaborating closely with Director of Client Relations. Provide guidance on sponsorships/organizations with which to get involved, companies to target, and channels to utilize to reach the targeted audience. Ensure plans integrate with and support firmwide business development and marketing strategies and practice group/industry plans. Collaborate broadly with Business Development to promote cross-sharing ideas.
- Develop a Bay Area client/prospect events strategy to expand and deepen client relationships and to maximize benefit of firm events and sponsorships. Conceptualize, plan and execute client/prospect events. Implement best practices around preparation, follow-up and ROI analysis. Scout and select venues for events, with understanding of location and audience preferences. Collaborate closely with firmwide events team.
- Keep abreast of, and continuously deepen knowledge of Bay Area culture, norms, trends, emerging businesses, competition, etc. to ensure efforts are in pulse and in sync. Develop tools to best track Bay Area contacts, prospects and clients. Create and maintain database of regional events/organizations to consider and record ROI information.
- Research and provide insight into the legal landscape of the Bay Area, including which legal services are most relevant; how best to reach decision makers, and how legal service providers are selected. Assess which communication methods are most effective in reaching target audiences. Develop strong knowledge of competitor firms and their clients.
- Act as Marketing liaison for the San Francisco and Palo Alto offices. Manage office marketing budgets with a view to maximizing the business development benefit of sponsorships and office activities. Partner with Bay Area Directors of Administration and Managing Partners on office-based initiatives and goals and client social events. Partner with Firm Foundation representative to coordinate synergies between Foundation giving and marketing opportunities in the Bay Area.
- Conduct competitive intelligence and research of prospective targets, industries, markets, and conflicts via firmwide resources.
Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field required. At least five years of relevant experience in professional services marketing; law firm experience preferred. MBA a plus.
- Strong working knowledge of the San Francisco Bay Area business and legal landscapes.
- Strong knowledge of core marketing principles including driving innovative tools and programs, events, competitive intelligence, and market research.
- Strong event planning and execution experience.
