Communications Assistant
Department: Marketing and Business Development
Reports to: Communications Manager
Summary
The Communications Assistant of Marketing and Business Development provides administrative support to his/her direct supervisors, as well as to other members of the Marketing Department, as required.
Responsibilities include assisting with various communications and business development initiatives – including media and social media monitoring; day-to-day intake, editing and development (as needed) of intranet content; daily maintenance of social media channels and Firm website; updating and maintaining key information systems (including, media log, editorial calendar and rankings and accolades log); supporting the execution of multiple surveys and awards submissions; and assisting with other marketing, communications and business development projects as requested.
Relationships
Reports to the Communications Manager and Senior Manager and works closely with all members of the Marketing and Business Development Department. This position also regularly involves activities and projects that involve non-marketing personnel across offices.
Responsibilities
- Provides administrative and project implementation support to his/her direct report and other members of the Marketing and Business Development Department, as assigned.
- Collects information, writes and edits news items, coordinates with various practice groups and operational departments to maintain updated and accurate Intranet content.
- Supports all aspects of the proactive and reactive media relations program, including social media.
- Conducts diligent media and social media monitoring and reporting.
- Drafts and obtains approval of posts for sharing to social media.
- Compiles, finalizes approvals and distributes weekly press highlights emails and other rports.
- Updates and maintains content and structure of key Firm website sections – including the “Media Center” and “Pro Bono” section – on a daily basis.
- Updates and circulates editorial and due dates calendar on an ongoing basis.
- Helps schedule and coordinate media interviews.
Qualifications
Education
- 4-year College Degree required.
Experience
- Prior experience in a professional environment preferred.

- Proficiency with various software programs such as MS Office Suite, InterAction (Business Book), Internet usage. Database skills preferred.
