Marketing & Business Development Manager

Job Description
Premier, global, law firm seeks an experienced business development professional for its Finance and Real Estate (FRE) Practice Group. This position will be based in the Philadelphia office and is responsible for the development and execution of the group’s business development and promotional programs worldwide.
– Oversee the development and execution of business development plans and initiatives for the Firm’s global finance and real estate practice, working closely with group leadership to formulate clear achievable goals.
– Work with FRE partners, practice group management and the business development team to drive the annual business development planning process and reporting of associated quarterly goals / results.
– Develop tailored proposals/pitches and tracking of pitch efforts, assist with pitch strategies (using research, financials, CRM and other relevant tools), and provide other key areas of support, including coaching.
– Conduct/leverage research and analysis to help identify new business opportunities with existing and prospective clients.
– Provide business intelligence on key competitors and marketplace trends in an effort to exploit market differentiation.
– Develop and maintain written material for use in the group’s marketing and business development initiatives, including attorney biographies, credentials, experience lists and marketing collateral.
– Support and assist in driving the adoption and integration of business development tools, such as Firm database, CRM and Opportunities tracking.
– Enhance the practice group’s profile in key market segments by recommending thought leadership topics, tools, formats and ideas for programs and client communications that reach targeted audiences.
– Identify and oversee conference/ sponsorship, seminars and events and other profile-raising opportunities that generate the most value and support with successful implementation and follow through. -Manage client outreach initiatives including alerts, FRE blog, conference and event strategic preparation and follow up.
– Manage practice marketing budget and track return on investment.
– Prepare legal directory, league table and other award submissions and develop strategy for maximizing results.
-Working with Media Relations, evaluate new publication and recognition opportunities to ensure they align with global practice branding strategy.
-Identify synergies with other practice groups and drive related marketing/BD initiatives.
– Support other marketing department and/or firm wide initiatives, as needed.
Requirements
– Bachelor’s Degree required.
– 8+ years of marketing in a professional services environment required, preferably a law firm.
– Strong leadership skills with ability to influence and advise partners on direction with strong execution and follow through
– Strong commercial sense and confidence to understand the needs and expectations of the FRE attorneys and clients, as well as how the marketing and business development function can facilitate and drive revenue generation and profile in the market.
– Financial market acumen and business savvy.
– Capable of using a variety of data (revenue, cost, etc.) to inform the prioritization of practice group business development activities.
– Strong team work and collaboration skills, working closely with partners, global marketing/BD colleagues, and other firm departments.
– Strong written and oral communication skills.
– Great organizational and project management skills.
– Professional manner with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
– Must demonstrate personal characteristics of the Firm Guiding Principles, covering aspects such as; highest standards of ethics and integrity, client focus, excellence around provision of service and transformational advice.
