East Coast Docket Specialist

Monday – Friday, 9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

New York or Washington, DC Office

This position is responsible for supporting the Litigation, Labor and Bankruptcy practice areas firm wide. Strong administrative, organizational, and interpersonal skills and the ability to recognize and act on important details and deadlines are also required. Candidate must have the ability to work under pressure, respond quickly to changing demands, and be self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Filing and obtaining documents at state and federal courts and agencies. Assisting in searches and extraction of information from court-related databases and websites and arranging for services of process, issuance of subpoenas and manual filings.
  • Interacting with personnel from multiple departments and at various levels in the firm.
  • Using various types of software to perform docketing/calendaring responsibilities and to run standard reports to notify attorneys of upcoming dates.
  • Assisting with department projects as needed and performing other work-related duties as assigned by attorneys.
  • Enforcing department and firm policies related to docketing matters. 

Qualifications include:

  • Associate’s degree or higher required; any combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position is preferred.
  • Seven (7) to ten (10) years of experience within a law firm environment.
  • Detail oriented, extremely organized, and able to prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with clients and all levels of personnel, including attorneys, coworkers, and administrators.
  • Thorough knowledge of federal and state e-filing procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of local, state, and federal rules and codes of civil procedure.
