Manager Business Development & Marketing
Premier, global, law firm is currently seeking a Manager of Business Development & Marketing for the Tax practice. The position is focused on formulating strategic marketing, communications and business development initiatives for the practice and the firm.
Reporting to a Director and working closely with the practice leaders and partners, this position will be responsible for developing strategies for building profile and expanding the practice through marketing, public relations, and business development efforts. Responsibilities include working with practice leaders to develop marketing and business development strategies for various components of the practice; communicating business development goals and strategies to the lawyers in the group; working closely with the Public Relations team to build the profile of the practice, and overall building the brand of the practice.
The incumbent will also be responsible; supporting lawyers and colleagues with drafting internal and external communications, including collateral materials; developing speaking and authorship opportunities with professional and trade organizations; developing materials for new business opportunities. The individual will have access to broad resources across the Firm business development department, including a Public Relations team, a website and digital media team, and more.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to synthesize information into professional marketing communications; be proficient in the use of PowerPoint, spreadsheet, and database applications; and have exceptional writing skills in order to draft pieces for the Firm Practice group leader and put together high-level business plans. The ideal candidate will thrive on working in a fast-paced environment, must be able to quickly think on their feet, be creative, proactive and demonstrate the ability to think out of the box. Occasional business travel may be required.
The successful candidate will have a minimum a Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university plus a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, communications, business and practice development, or a related field; managing people and projects; knowledge of the competitive landscape challenging major national law firms with substantial tax practices; demonstrated capacity to develop and implement strategic business plans; the ability to project personal credibility, professionalism, and a high degree of integrity among Firm leadership, clients, and Firm management; and the ability to function independently and effectively in a matrix organization. Experience in the tax field and experience with social media is a benefit but not required. Graduate degree and demonstrated success in a mid to large size professional services organization strongly preferred.
