Public Relations & Communications Specialist-Corporate
The Public Relations & Communications Specialist – Corporate works on all aspects of the Firm’s public relations and external communications with a strong focus on the Corporate practice.
Job Responsibilities
Overseeing media relations and speaking engagements for the Firm’s Corporate practices (mergers and acquisitions, securities and banking); handling the Firm’s day-to-day press relations, which includes press outreach and requests for comment from the media; writing and issuing press announcements for mergers and acquisitions as well as general Firm news (such as the promotion of new Partners) and determining appropriate media distribution plans; working closely with Partners to understand their business needs and objectives in order to help them develop effective public relations plans; developing, maintaining and initiating solid relationships with the press; researching and arranging bylined article opportunities for Partners; providing background material and training for Partners in advance of interviews or potentially contentious press matters; monitoring reporter moves for new introductions/contact opportunities and for updating targeted media plans; maintaining contact with various conference groups and assisting in the development and coordination of speaking engagements for lawyers; researching industry publications, reporters and issues of interest for pitching purposes; drafting content for the external website; managing PR aspects of directory submissions (e.g. Chambers and Law360); analyzing editorial and speaking engagement calendars for press opportunities; providing repurposed material for articles in the Firm’s internal newsletter; overseeing photo shoots; and performing other duties, as assigned.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in liberal arts, English, or a business-related field; at least 5 years of work-related experience with the media, preferably within a law firm, financial services firm, or highly reputable public relations agency; excellent oral and written communication skills and a highly detail-oriented work manner; knowledge of and comfort in discussing corporate practices areas; preexisting press contacts; proven ability to work and partner well within a team setting; experience utilizing social media tools and platforms such as LinkedIn and Twitter; ability to present ideas clearly, both orally and in writing; ability to build professional working relationships with Partners and members of the media: ability to handle multiple projects and meet time-sensitive, often unexpected, deadlines; and availability to work additional hours in keeping with deal flow, as needed.
This position is located in our New York office and is full-time, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We offer a competitive salary, excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision care and 401(k), and health club privileges.
