Benefits Specialist-Temporary
General Description:
The Benefits Specialist will work closely with the Senior Benefits Manager, Director of Human Resources, and the firm’s Payroll Department, to ensure that all administrative responsibilities are completed.
Essential Functions
- Answer employee benefit questions.
- Resolve benefit eligibility and claim issues.
- Prepare and distribute monthly benefit notifications and newsletters.
- Meet with new hires during Orientation.
- Administer all facets of Disability/FMLA claims as well as prepare calculations for missed benefit deductions.
- Administer Worker’s Compensation claims and annual OSHA reporting.
- Process semi-monthly FSA reports and wire requests.
- Process and audit all deferral contribution changes, and prepare semi-monthly 401(k) reports and wire requests.
- Assist auditors during annual 401(k) audit and prepare all 401(k) non-discrimination testing associated with plan.
- Prepare annual 401(k) discretionary contribution.
- Review 5500’s associated with all benefit plans.
- Administer RDS Medicare Subsidy process.
- Manage Employee Assistance Program and coordinate employee meetings.
- Organize annual Benefit Fairs and Meetings for Open Enrollment.
- Coordinate Wellness events and communications.
- Assist with all aspects of Open Enrollment.
- Process and audit monthly invoices for all firm benefits.
- Assist with maintaining the firm’s benefit information in our ADP system.
- Coordinate flu shots each fall in Newark office.
Skills
- Windows 2010, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Internet, HRB/ADP.
- Must have excellent organizational and communication skills. Requires 5+ years of experience administering all aspects of health and welfare benefit plans.
- Law Firm experience a plus.
Education and Training Required
- A./B.S. or equivalent life experience.
