Conflicts Attorney
Office Location: Roseland, NJ
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00AM-5:00PM; overtime may be required at times.
Position Summary/Overview:
The firm is currently recruiting for a Conflicts Attorney in our Roseland office. This position will be responsible for the review, analysis and resolution of potential conflicts with respect to new business intake, lateral attorney and new attorney hires. This position will work closely with the Conflicts Department, General Counsel, management, attorneys and other administrative departments.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Review and analyze conflict reports prepared by Conflicts Department.
- Assist attorneys in determining the nature of the potential conflict and whether such conflict may be waived.
- Escalate identified potential conflicts to responsible attorney and/or General Counsel with recommended course of action.
- Obtain approvals and decisions, as necessary, from General Counsel and/or firm management during the conflict resolution process.
- Ensure conflict waivers are obtained, as required.
- Draft conflict waiver requests for requesting attorney and responsible attorney.
- Work with Conflicts Department, General Counsel and responsible attorney to implement ethical walls/conflict screens.
- Remain current with laws and rules pertaining to conflicts of interest and Rules of Professional Conduct in each jurisdiction where our offices are located.
- Document conflicts resolution process to the appropriate client/matter and firm administrative files.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities (including physical abilities):
- Bachelor’s degree / JD required.
- Knowledge of laws, Rules of Professional Conduct, and risk management requirements governing conflicts of interest and conflicts resolution processes.
- Experience doing legal and corporate affiliation research.
- Demonstrated proficiency in working with peers, colleagues, and management.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, responsiveness, and follow-through.
- Demonstrates sense of urgency and ability to work independently to resolve issues.
- Proficiency in technical applications. Knowledge of CMS/Aderant and IntApp Open a plus.
