Real Estate Paralegal
Reporting Responsibility – Supervising Partner
The candidate will provide paralegal support to the attorneys engaged in busy dynamic commercial Real Estate law practice. Practice involves representing New York acquirers, developers and builders of office and apartment buildings, and nationwide sales, purchases and financings of real estate. Essential functions of the position include, but, are not limited to:
- Assist with due diligence for commercial properties, including review and follow up on title reports, lease abstracting.
- Assist at closings of commercial transactions including commercial loan closings from the borrower’s side, purchases and sales of office buildings, shopping centers, etc.
- Organize limited liability companies
- Handle residential transactions on behalf of sellers or buyers.
- Assist other departments in real estate aspects of their transactions, i.e., transferring property for the trust and estates and corporate attorneys.
- Assist attorneys with transactional documents including proofreading, preparation of closing CDs, maintaining files and tracking checklists.
- Our firm standards are very high and as such, we are looking for paralegals with superior academic credentials and promising legal skills who are also mature, self-motivated, creative and independent thinkers.
Qualifications
- Minimum of one to two years of real estate experience including title reviews, preferably in a law firm setting, an in-house legal department or a title company
- Bachelor’s degree
- Proficiency on Microsoft Word
- Proficiency in obtaining documents and information from on-line resources
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and track extensive detail
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with personnel
- Ability to work under stress
- Must be flexible with overtime
- Willingness to work with and assist other staff members in accomplishing work assignments
- Pleasant and cooperative attitude
- Must be able to handle confidential information sensitively and discreetly
