Director, Marketing & Business Development – Global Litigation

Reports to: Chief Marketing Officer

General Summary

The Director, Marketing & Business Development – Global Litigation is responsible for overseeing the firm’s marketing and business development strategy, client retention and growth for the Litigation practice group.  This position also plays a key role in many of the firmwide integrated client service initiatives.

Essential Job Functions

  • Work with the Chair and Deputy Chairs of Litigation, Practice Group Leaders and the Chief Marketing
  • Officer to determine marketing and business development priorities for the Global Litigation practice.
  • Direct the development, implementation and evaluation of the firm’s marketing and business development strategies and programs for the Global Litigation practice group.
  • Work directly with the firm’s Chief Marketing Officer to play a key role in driving firmwide cross-practice and cross-border initiatives, firmwide business development best practices and tools.
  • Work with all Litigation practice groups to develop marketing and business development plans and implement programs to effectively penetrate markets.
  • Provide coaching and advice to lawyers on business development strategies.
  • Participate in specific business development initiatives including responses to RFPs, market research, presentations to clients and potential clients, and cross-selling opportunities.
  • Direct and manage the development of marketing collateral materials, corporate communications, advertising, and special events to help raise the profile of the Global Litigation practice.
  • Recommend and implement activities related to the firm’s sponsorship for Litigation.
  • Develop a detailed marketing and business development budget for the Litigation practices; monitor expenditures against the budget.
  • Represent the firm at the highest level to clients, peer organizations and business associates.
  • Manage team of marketing and business development professionals who support Global Litigation.
  • Direct and assist with the preparation of legal directory and other key award submissions designed to raise the profile of the litigation practice groups.
  • Performs any and all other duties as necessary and as assigned by your supervisor for efficient functioning of the Department, Office and Firm.

Qualifications/KSA’s

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 10+ years of experience in strategic marketing and business development within a professional services firm.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and direct the work of others.
  • Exceptional project management, interpersonal and team building skills are required.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) along with the ability to build consensus and motivate others.
