Temporary Research & Information Operations Assistant
Premier, global, law firm currently has an excellent opportunity for a Temporary Research & Information Operations Assistant in our Global Operations Center in Wheeling, WV.
The Temporary R&I Operations Assistant is primarily responsible for supporting R&I technical services operations by ensuring that purchased and borrowed resources are accurately distributed and accounted for throughout various offices firm wide. This includes receiving, labeling, and distributing print materials such as deskbooks, subscription updates, and new book purchases, as well as arranging for items borrowed from other institutions to be safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively delivered and returned in a timely manner. The Temporary R&I Operations Assistant will also assist the R&I Operations Specialist with maintaining accurate records in the library’s automated system and other tracking databases.
Responsibilities
Materials processing
• Open, sort, check-in and process incoming mail and materials
• Process and prepare new books and other materials for shelving and circulation by affixing labels
• Check-in and route serials
• Coordinate with R&I staff of other Firm offices on firm-wide book orders and distribution, serials and catalog database maintenance issues
• Assist the Operations Specialist with ordering new books, services and materials
• Prepare and process cancellations and items returned for credit
R&I automation system updating
• Perform simple data entry according to standardized practices, including record edits, updates, and corrections in Excel spreadsheets, library catalog, and other databases
• Create, maintain and edit new and existing records in serials program
Resource delivery
• Accurately identify desired loan materials from appropriate loan sources
• Coordinate sharing of print resources between offices according to inter-office circulation procedures
• Secure materials from outside sources and arrange for their return
• Maintain interlibrary loan log
• Procures known-item document retrieval of journal articles and other related materials from document delivery vendors
Qualifications
• At least 1 year of previous library experience, preferably in a special library
• Associates degree desired; certificate in library technology or equivalent preferred
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Effective organizational and problem solving skills
• Computer proficiency in Word and Excel
• Ability to work effectively in a customer-service oriented environment
• Dependability, adaptability and a cooperative attitude
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

Salary: Hourly, dependent on experience
