System Engineer, Messaging Architect

Responsibilities

  • Architect level mastery of Microsoft Exchange 2010, 2013 and high level design familiarity with MS Exchange 2016.
  • Advanced level hands on experience designing and implementing corporate messaging environments. Ability to develop internal governance and processes across all facets of the messaging portfolio.
  • Provide support to assigned technical escalations and provide resolution as needed.
  • Manage & Architect the Firm’s Mobile Device Management systems (BES, ActiveSync, MaaS360).
  • Manage & Architect the Firm’s overall messaging platform.
  • High level proficiency with setting up and managing Active Directory 2008 R2 & 2012 environment.
  • Windows VB and PowerShell scripting experience related to managing server infrastructure is a must.
  • Installs, operates and maintains server hardware, operating systems and other essential services and sub-systems within a fully virtualized VMware environment.
  • Experience with Cisco Unified Computing Systems (blades, fabrics, interconnects, servers).
  • Performs system and network administration including managing file systems, user accounts, printers and workstations.
  • Extensive experience in IT Network –Infrastructure concepts: DNS, DHCP, WINS, DFS.
  • Experience with set up and management of network monitoring tools: MS VMware, Solarwinds, VCOPS, Shavlik or any other comparable patch management system.
  • Solid understanding of Information Technology infrastructure/network components including, but not limited to, LAN/WAN, Network Load Balancing, Security devices, SAN/NAS and Linux/Enterprise Class OS.
  • Under the departments change management policies, performs system modifications, upgrades, and software updates as directed by the Operations Manager, Systems, Network or Security Engineers.
  • Monitors servers and services according to scheduled maintenance procedures. Performs scheduled diagnostics and maintenance.
  • On a rotating basis, provides after hour coverage to respond to server problems occurring either before or after support hours.
  • When requested, attends IT meetings and scheduled teleconferences.
  • Assume a lead role in many migration, upgrade and roll out projects in our global messaging environment.
  • Liaise between Firm management, sponsors, users and other IT personnel to communicate issues regarding overall operations status and strategy.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree with an engineering or computer science focus preferred, or equivalent work experience required.
  • 10+ years related work experience preferably in a professional services environment.
  • MCSA, MCSE and/or other expertise aligned certification preferred.
  • Enterprise System Monitoring experience: 3 to 5 years (VMware VCOPS preferred).
  • Scripting experience a must.
  • VMware Certified professional on vSphere 4 or higher preferred.
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communications skills.
  • Ability to conduct research into systems issues and products as required.
  • Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
  • Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high pressure environment.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

ADA Requirements

  • Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as servers and network hardware that could be 50 lbs or greater.
