Practice Development Coordinator – Americas Banking and Capital Markets
Reports to: Practice Development Manager
Position Summary
Premier, global, law firm’s Banking and Capital Markets practices are cornerstone and high profile practices for the firm in the Americas and worldwide. The clients of these groups represent most of the world’s leading financial institutions and internally represent many of the Firm’s top clients globally.
The leadership of these groups is now looking to develop our existing and potential client portfolio even further and there is a need for a dynamic and strategic BD function to lead this development. To this end, there has been significant investment and enhancement of the groups’ BD team and this position is the final part of this transformation. We are looking for an energetic, BD professional who has at least 2-3 years’ experience, looking for the next move in their career and keen to join a market-leading professional services brand.
Overview
Working closely with an experienced and dynamic Business Development team, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting and developing the exciting business development efforts of the Americas Banking and Capital Markets groups. This is a key role for a developing BD professional in a top-tier practice environment in one of the world’s leading law firms.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- To play a key role in ensuring the group’s business development efforts are supported, achieved and communicated internally:
- Playing an active part in the BD initiatives and activities undertaken by the Americas Banking & Capital Markets team;
- Regular client-focused research and market information gathering for key external business development meetings;
- Liaise with all partners to oversee the collection of information, drafting and distribution of the weekly section business development newsletter and BD meeting;
- In conjunction with the in-house events team, coordinate events for the Sections’ practices and key clients including educational events, social, networking and team-building activities and participation in industry conferences;
- Oversee the collection, preparation and submission data for external league tables/rankings in a timely basis. Routinely communicate rankings and awards ‘wins’ to the groups;
- Facilitating the sharing of information and regular interaction with Banking and Capital Markets’ business development colleagues in offices and practices around the global network;
- Supporting the Practice Development Specialist and Manager in developing strong proposals and capability documentation through proactive gathering and interrogation of firm systems;
- Coordinate the production and distribution of Client Alerts and other White & Case publications working with the Firm’s creative services and marketing technology teams;
- Working with the Firm’s external consultant, the PD Specialist and Manager to develop strategic submissions for the Sections’ practices to publishers of key law firm/lawyer rankings. Prepare partners for interviews with researchers. Evaluate a variety of award and ranking opportunities and make recommendations regarding participation;
- Coordinate the updating of marketing collateral, including brochures, experience statements, attorney biographies and PowerPoint presentations;
- Maintaining up-to-date deal/matter information in our global Matters database for use in proposals, submissions, internal communications etc.
Essential Job Requirements
- Excellent organizational, analytical, written and oral skills are required;
- Ability to work independently in a team environment, effectively manage time and tight deadlines; able to multi-task;
- Excellent working knowledge of MS Office, particularly Word and Excel;
- Client-focused approach;
- Good systems and database skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and CRM applications, InterAction knowledge a big plus; and iManage
- Team-player; energetic, flexible, committed and enthusiastic.
Education/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and minimum 2 years of relevant work experience.
