Real Estate Paralegal
Responsibilities
All aspects of complex commercial real estate transactions, including:
Preparation and management of closing checklists;
Managing inquiries from client and other transaction parties;
Initial document drafting:
- basic mortgage loan documents
- purchase and sale agreements
- ancillary closing documents
- closing escrow agreements
Due diligence:
- review of title reports and underlying title documents (liens, easements, etc.)
- review of property surveys (metes and bounds, easements, etc.)
- lease review/abstracting
- order/review entity documents (operating agreements, good standings, etc.)
Preparation and finalization of closing adjustments and settlement statements;
Title reviews and preparation of other closing documents;
Closing due diligence; and
Post-closing follow up.
Support condominium and cooperative practice:
- Assistance with compilation of new offering plans, including some initial document drafting;
- Prepare exhibit binders for new offering plans;
- Draft amendments to offering plans and all related forms and documents;
- Compile amendment submissions & track progress with AG’s office; and
- Oversee occasional unit closings from inception through closing.
Knowledge and Abilities
- Familiarity with ACRIS, including ability to execute filings.
- Familiarity with JAM online Condo Application Apportionment Application website, including worksheet completion.
- Strong command of Excel.
- Superior organizational and communication skills.
- Positive attitude and solution-oriented mindset.
- Ability to multitask, work independently and have strong attention to detail.
Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of real estate transactional experience required, preferably in a New York law firm. Office hours are 9:30-5:30 and flexibility to work overtime as needed is required. Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package offered.
