People Coordinator

The position works with the Americas Director of People, Director of Attorney Recruiting, Associate Directors of People Development, and HR Manager, and coordinates HR, Recruiting, and People Development programs and projects.

The Coordinator will be part of a regional team responsible for recruiting and professional development efforts in the Americas, as well as various Firmwide professional development initiatives.

  • In collaboration with others on the People team, assists with general People programs and processes which may include, but not be limited to, recruiting, orientation/onboarding, training retreats and programs, performance evaluations, diversity efforts and other related programs.
  • In collaboration with the People Team, cultivates strong working relationships with and provides ongoing support, guidance and assistance to Associates, Counsels, and Business Services Staff (BSS).
  • Responsible for developing a comprehensive knowledge of all Firm policies and practices and works to ensure the appropriate and consistent implementation of each.
  • Updates and maintains Handbooks and advises on a variety of People-related issues.
  • Acts as liaison with and offers related support to appropriate groups, committees, and populations to ensure HR and professional development program goals are identified and met.
  • Compiles and analyzes statistical information and firm metrics reporting, and creates necessary reports to assist with various information requests and survey submissions.
  • Maintains personnel information, files and records to ensure accuracy and confidentiality of the same.
  • Maintains data on leaves of absence, secondments, proposed and live mobility assignments, etc.
  • Is involved in the annual evaluation and compensation processes.
  • Is involved in the annual on-campus recruiting process and summer associate program; may also provide support to lateral hiring efforts.
  • Coordinates all aspects of the attorney and BSS departure and exit process. Maintains and updates the departure procedures document and attrition report. Assists with exit interview analysis and departure event process.
  • In collaboration with HR team, handles changes to monthly headcount reports.
  • In collaboration with the PD team, prepares and maintains various internal attorney directories, facebooks, and databases.
  • Works with various individuals within the Firm to ensure the appropriate reimbursement of expenses as well as tracking and paying of vendor bills in accordance with Firm policies.
  • Manages all logistics of meetings and programs including scheduling, vendor support, securing of meeting rooms, meeting room preparation, on-site coordination and trouble shooting. 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 3-5 years of legal professional development or HR experience or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Client-focused approach and attitude.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with individuals at all levels within and outside the Firm.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional, multi-office team environment demonstrating reliability, dependability and flexibility is essential.
  • Excellent organizational, process, and follow-through skills.
  • Ability to prioritize assignments and work independently.
  • Ability to work under pressure and critical deadlines. Ability to handle stressors related to the position and high interpersonal interaction.
  • Ability to keep confidential any information, observations or viewpoints regarding Firm business matters.
  • Strong technology skills in MS Office products such as Word and Excel.
  • Familiarity with Human Resource systems and relational databases preferred.
  • Assumes other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
