Computer Technician
The New York office of a leading, global, law firm is seeking an experienced Computer Technician. This position requires at least 2-5 years of hands-on technical knowledge of laptop, desktop design and software installation required.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assists with installation and configuration of computer, network, PDA and telephone equipment in accordance with firm defined installation templates or guidelines.
- Develops plan to resolve problem or issue, escalate issue to appropriate IS staff member if problem is not within the scope of own skill set.
- Follows all IS processes and procedures.
- Provides documentation of findings and resolutions.
- Handles IS equipment setup, office moves, printer and scanner troubleshooting and support.
- Provides technical assistance for on-site needs and for offsite/remote trials.
- Works with software and hardware vendors’ technical support staff to resolve complex problems.
- Coordinates with IS Managers/Supervisors and other IS staff to change or upgrade network services including desktop, server and portable computing devices.
- Responsible for troubleshooting and resolution of all mobile devices, workstation and workstation based application issues.
- Maintains hardware inventory and documentation of existing applications and procedure.
- Assures that all tickets requiring follow up work and/or calls receive appropriate attention.
- Provides technical support to end users via telephone.
- Assists in developing and documenting improvements to current processes.
- Assists the IS team in resolution of end users’ technical issues.
- Assists the IS Team in the execution of established processes and meeting projects timeline.
- Sets up meeting AV equipment, connect teleconference and video conference equipment.
In order to be successful in this role, candidates must possess basic knowledge of computer applications/systems to troubleshoot issues, demonstrate a strong understanding in the use of Microsoft products including Windows 7 and Office Suite, have the ability to effectively listen to customers and respond to their requests. The availability to work overtime as needed is a must. The Technician must have the ability to lift heavy equipment (PCs, monitors and printers) and possess strong verbal and written communication skills. A high level of patience when dealing with non-technical users is important. Law firm experience & a College degree preferred.
