Corporate Legal Assistant – Real Estate Group

Corporate Legal Assistants help to provide legal service of the highest caliber to our clients.  They assist in all phases of client transactions, including due diligence document reviews, drafting/negotiation sessions, corporate filings, closings and post-closing matters.  They frequently conduct research and assist in compiling corporate information binders.  Our Corporate Legal Assistants assume a high level of responsibility for keeping track of, organizing, proofreading, filing and distributing documents related to corporate deals.  They interact frequently with partners, associates and clients.

Job Responsibilities include: assisting attorneys in all aspects of Real Estate matters; drafting and preparing closing papers; organizing and attending closings; preparing and updating timetables and checklists; conducting research; organizing and maintaining documents; reading and editing documents for sense, consistency, cross references, format, facts, calculations and typos; obtaining comments on draft documents from other parties; preparing correspondence; summarizing, outlining, abstracting and comparing documents; organizing conferences and providing assistance; preparing draft documents; providing closing assistance; preparing documents for Records; preparing memorandum of closing; reviewing title matters; assisting other members of the Real Estate group as needed and performing other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements include:   Bachelor’s degree with high academic standing; experience working in a corporate legal environment, preferably with a Real Estate background; at least two years of legal assistant/paralegal experience; the ability to be comfortable interacting in a professional environment; excellent written and oral communication skills; the ability to work well under pressure and coordinate several activities at once; the ability to show initiative to problem-solve and a capacity to meet strict deadlines; strong research skills; strong organization skills; a detail-oriented work manner; and the availability to work overtime, on weekends and holidays, as needed.

This position is located in our New York office and the hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. We offer a competitive salary and excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision care, 401(K) and health club privileges.
